In this chapter we turn our attention to solutions to the
gang situation which originate at the neighborhood or community level. We'll
take a look at what neighborhood residents could do to
reduce gang activity and the need for coordination and cooperation
among neighborhood- and community social institutions, organizations and
agencies.
The chapter concludes with a discussion of four different
community-based solutions to gang activity and youth violence: community
forums, task force groups, community-based youth agencies, and the Adopt an
Agency program.
